I made this dress to explain my research on cytokinetic abscission – the final step of cell division:

When animal cells need to split their connection, they put on a corset and call an ‘escort’. ESCRT-III forms a spiral shape around the bridge and constricts its waist to separate the emerging cells.

The Vienna Ball of Sciences was a perfect opportunity to wear my science dress!

If you’re curious, you can read more about cytokinetic abscission in my review published in Developmental Cell.
