I’m thrilled to present my new space mission patch that combines two of my favorite things: microscopy and space!
The Fluorescent Deep Space Petri-Pod enables space biology experiments and fluorescent imaging of live C. elegans and mammalian cells in deep space – bringing research to satellites, the Moon and even Mars.
This design was inspired by real images of fluorescent worms (bottom left) and a satellite system for research missions (bottom right), combined with real images of the Moon, Mars, and the International Space Station depicted in the background.
It’s been a pleasure to collaborate with Dr. Tim Etheridge and the rest of the team at University of Exeter, University of Leicester, University of Nottingham, and the UK Space Agency.
